Jon Mitchell Goalbook Partnerships leader will present the session. Webinar description: 

Every special education leader knows what a high-quality IEP looks like. The harder question is how to  get 40, 80, or 300 different educators to make high-quality IEP decisions consistently. This session  opens with a quick diagnostic for participants: if you pulled 25 IEPs at random from across your district  tomorrow, where would you expect to see the greatest inconsistency? From there, we will trace the  connection NYSED asks teams to build, from present levels to need, annual goal, specially designed  instruction, and progress monitoring. 

The core of the session follows one student through that process end to end: identifying the priority  need, aligning to grade-level standards, writing a measurable annual goal, selecting instructional  strategies, and planning progress monitoring. We will use Goalbook throughout, and show Goalbook  Threads where it helps educators make stronger decisions. We will close by shifting from the individual  teacher to the system: how common language and shared resources build educator self-efficacy and  collaboration, strengthen standards-based instruction, and improve student outcomes across every  school.

New York Council of Administrators of Special Education is pleased to continue to offer professional development opportunities for administrators new to special education or those that may want a refresher. Throughout the school year, NYCASE will be offering a series of informational sessions designed to support new and experienced special education administrators and CSE Chairpersons. Sessions are designed to provide basic information needed to survive your first few years as a new special education administrator with opportunities for networking with colleagues. All sessions are virtual via Zoom.
